Father Christopher Buckner
Father Buckner, a convert to the Catholic Faith, is a sixth generation native of New York City who has been affiliated with CDU since its inception. He has taught the Catholic Faith at almost every level, from
second grade to graduate school.
CDU was a logical step for Father Buckner in his long and very successful career of teaching, especially since Father had been a course instructor for the Loyola
Correspondence Study Division in Chicago until it closed in 1982.
Father Buckner attended Cathedral Preparatory Seminary High School in New
York City and then went on to study at the City University of New York. Graduating from Hunter College, he earned a Bachelor's Degree, with a major
in Latin and Greek and a minor in philosophy. He holds an MA degree in Catholic Doctrine from the Institute for Advanced Studies in Catholic Doctrine
at St. John's University and a Catechetical Diploma from the Congregation for the Clergy.
He is a graduate of Mount Saint Mary Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland,
where he earned an MA degree in Moral Theology and a Master of Divinity degree. He was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia, by Bishop Thomas Welsh on May 10, 1980.
In addition to his extensive study of foreign languages including Latin, Classical Greek, Italian, French, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Esperanto, and Sign
Language, he has written numerous articles that have appeared in Common Faith, Fidelity, and Pro Ecclesia. He worked with Father John Hardon, S.J. in editing three books: The Question and Answer Catholic Catechism, Modern
Catholic Dictionary, and The Catholic Lifetime Readng Plan and has also written sixteen articles for Our Sunday Visitor's Encyclopedia of Catholic Doctrine. Part of his work for CDU has involved authoring five courses at both
the graduate and undergraduate levels and serving as course instructor for two graduate courses.
Father Buckner's parochial work in the Arlington Diocese has included:
Associate Pastor at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Winchester, Nativity Parish in Burke, Holy Spirit in Annandale and as pastor for eight years at St. Mary
Parish in Fredericksburg. During these years he has spent much time in the Holy Land, having led numerous groups on pilgrimage including six youth
groups. Since June 2000, he has been assigned full time to CDU as Undergraduate Dean.
Sister Mary Margaret Ann Schlather, SND

Sister Margaret Ann grew up, one of thirteen children, in Elyria, Ohio. She professed her vows as a Sister of Notre Dame of the Chardon Province in 1967.
Her background includes a BA in music and elementary education, an MA Degree in Religious Education from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas
